Click below to find out more about weekly play, on-going leagues and tournaments as well as our annual 4-Star National Level competition - the Butterfly Cary Cup Championship which draws world class athletes as well as beginners from all over the world. As a non-profit all funds from tournaments are used to pay for equipment & overheads for local players and for Cary Cup. Equipment needs constantly replaced & repaired so PLEASE support this by participating. All player pass funds paid at facilities pays for facility use only and does not go to Cary TTA so we need tournament participation to provide equipment.
Our organization came about when Dr. Mike Babuin (Cary TTA President) realized that Cary table tennis players needed much more practice opportunities as it was practically non-exsistant in Cary as a sport. Additonally, one of his goals was to attract world class players to the area so that local players had the chance to see table tennis excellence in their home town which is how Cary Cup began. Cary TTA & Cary Cup is run by volunteers including all of family Babuin. Cary Cup strives to offer a very friendly player-oriented experience encouraging athletes of all levels to interact with each other and build friendships. By using a round robin format the tournament offers lower level players the unique opportunity to play against some of their table tennis heroes! The first Cary Cup was held in 2001 and with the help of key sponsors over the years such as Butterfly, Newgy, Greater Raleigh Convention & Visitors Bureau, Marriott, Stantec, NC Communications, and the Town of Cary, the Cary Cup has evolved into an internationally recognized marque event. In addition to organizing local play and Cary cup, Mike has recently been elected to serve the sport as a representative on the USATT Board of Directors. Mike's wife Mandy serves at an administrator for both the club and Cary Cup Many volunteers give of their time to make each practice session, league and tournaments take place. PLEASE contact us if you would like to become a volunteer - any amount of time you can give back is always appreciated. We look forwards to hearing from you soon! | TOP NEWS 2010 Cary Cup photos by Rick Thigpen ----------------------------------- Monthly city events in Cary for 2010 will all be unsanctioned.
